No Kidding Chapter One
NO KIDDING! was founded in 1984 in Vancouver, BC, Canada, by Jerry Steinberg, our "Founding Non-Father." He formed NO
KIDDING! because, while in his 30s, he began to lose many of his friends to their husbands, wives and especially their
children, and he felt he needed some new friends who could talk about things other than kids, could be spontaneous, had the
money, time and energy to do the things he enjoys doing, and whose lives didn't revolve around children.

History of the South Jersey/Phila. chapter
The South Jersey/Philadelphia NO KIDDING! chapter was started in February, 2006.
After attending fun events at other NO KIDDING! chapters since moving to NJ in 2003, Pam and Bill decided they wanted to make
more childfree friends who live close by. They both enjoy kids, but enjoy even more their lifestyle of being able to
travel, dine out, go to the theater, go to sporting events, etc., without having to find a babysitter or worry that their
friends will cancel at the last minute because their child got sick or their babysitter cancelled. While they have many
friends and family members who have adorable children, they look forward to evenings out where the focus is not on children
as well.
Most members of No Kidding! have thought long and hard about parenthood and have concluded (for various reasons)
that it isn't really right for them, while others are still in the decision-making process and are perhaps looking for validation
that being child free is an acceptable life choice. No Kidding! allows us to interact and socialize with others who
have similar priorities and lifestyles.
